KATHRYN SELBY APPOINTED AS A MEMBER OF THE ORDER OF AUSTRALIA (AM)
IN THE AUSTRALIA DAY HONOURS LIST.

All of us here at Selby & Friends are thrilled to send you this exciting news.

Kathy's inclusion in the Australia Day Honours List for "significant service to the arts as a concert pianist and performer of chamber music" highlights her many years of joyous music-making in Australia as a concert pianist, entrepeneur, chamber music exponent and creator of opportunities for her colleagues and young people.

As the Artistic Director and founder of Selby & Friends and A Little Lunch Music, and a founding member of both TRIOZ and Macquarie Trio Australia, Kathy's distinguished contribution to the development of chamber music in Australia is significant.  From commissions for the piano trio genre by Australian composers to the championing of emerging artists and her colleagues in all areas of music, Kathy is also a popular teacher and coach who delights in working with young musicians.

"This is a very special honour for me," says Kathy. "When I returned home from the US in 1988 I was just so thrilled to be back in Australia after having spent 11 years away working and studying.  So many wonderful Australians embraced me and my ideas and encouraged me to make my dreams come to life, and to them I am forever grateful.

I would especially like to thank everyone for their beautiful, warm and personal messages of support. This is an honour to be shared with my colleagues, friends and family and with all the members of the audience who have been part of my extended 'family' for so many years."

Congratulations to Kathy from the team at S&F!
