Welcome to

The S&F National series has earned an enviable reputation for the highest quality performances and an atmosphere of warmth and familiarity where relaxing with an extended ‘family’ leads to the true pleasure of chamber music – good conversation amongst friends. With media reviews that include phrases like “the series is full of gems”, “these musicians set a high, consistent and thoroughly professional benchmark”, and audience feedback such as “I so look forward to each concert as they are the highlight of my musical year”, it is with absolute delight that Selby & Friends ventures ahead into our fourth National Season.

Selby & Friends presents subscription seasons in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide and Bowral. Beginning in 2007, the series was created by Australian pianist, Kathryn Selby with a special emphasis on chamber music. Her guests have included Australia's own dynamic piano trio ensemble, TRIOZ, cellist Li-Wei Qin, the Janaki Trio and Parker String Quartets from the USA, and a host of Australian artists whose talents have also been the focus of her newest series, 'A Little Lunch Music'. This series was created in 2008 in association with City Recital Hall Angel Place and occurs once per month. Please check the link for details.

The 2010 season will continue our dedication to bringing you a diverse and eclectic mix of popular and unusual chamber works of brilliance, charm, warmth and beauty, and we will continue to showcase the talents of some of Australia’s most accomplished performers. However, the season will look a little different.

In Canberra, due to construction at the NGA we will have a temporary home away from home in the recently refurbished iconic Albert Hall with seating in the round, whilst in Bowral due to sold out seasons, we are moving to a slightly larger venue, still firmly retaining the intimacy intrinsic to chamber music in both venues.

The highly prized talents of Niki Vasilakis and Emma- Jane Murphy, my dear friends in TRIOZ, ensemble-in residence at City Recital Hall Angel Place Sydney, will be joined by two radiant and outstanding Australian guest artists - clarinettist Cathy McCorkill and soprano Taryn Fiebig. Not only is the season inspiring but it is full of marvellous gifts. I have chosen a brilliant selection of live performances from the 2007- 2009 Selby & Friends seasons to comprise a complimentary ‘Live Highlights’ CD for 2010 subscribers. There are also free tickets, programs, and even an entire season of complimentary tickets to be won by one lucky early subscriber! And S&F is aiming to assist our friends in the audience in 2010 by not raising ticket prices at all. As always, subscribers enjoy discounted tickets across the season and seating priority.

You can purchase tickets here, listen to music and view our videos plus a new link that gives me your personal feedback. With your continued patronage, S&F is pleased to present the 2010 season, one that bears all the hallmarks of true collaboration and the freedom that comes from working with kindred spirits. I hope you will consider becoming an S&F Ambassador, but most of all, please come and relax with friends and enjoy this glorious season.
