Program Information

Overview

With a nod to the famous James Bond movie of the same name, this program provides a devastating cocktail from five giants of classical music, showcasing Russian greats Scriabin, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov combined with the musical genius of Beethoven and Debussy who were supported in their work by Russian patrons.

The music showcased in From Russia with Love reflects these interesting and complicated personal stories and is sure to leave you shaken and stirred with the playfulness of Beethoven, the emotional anguish of Scriabin and the rousing drama of Tchaikovsky, Debussy and Rachmaninov.

Virtuoso Australian violinist & Artistic Director of Lucerne Festival Strings, Daniel Dodds returns to Selby & Friends with renowned ACO Principal cellist Timo-Veikko Valve who join Artistic Director/pianist Kathryn Selby, AM for duos and trios by Beethoven, Scriabin, Debussy, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov in this third concert tour of the 2019 Selby & Friends season.
