Sydney born violinist Natalie Chee began learning the violin at the age of 5. She became a student of Alex Todicescu, a professor at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and member of the Sydney String Quartet, when she was 10.
After winning numerous competitions and prizes in Australia, a young teenage Natalie appeared as a soloist with all of the Australian Symphony Orchestras whilst she was still in high school. She then continued her musical education with Prof. Igor Ozim in Berne, Switzerland where she received her Soloist Diploma with High Distinction.
In her mid-twenties, Natalie became the Concertmaster of the renowned Camerata Salzburg – a position she held for 9 years. Following her time in Salzburg, Natalie held the position of 1st Concertmaster of the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stuttgart and of the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne. She is a regular guest Concertmaster of orchestras throughout Europe and was given the honour of leading the BBC Symphony Orchestra in the ‘Last Night of the Proms’ in 2014. She is also one of the leaders of the Australian World Orchestra.
A prolific chamber musician, Natalie has been a member of several ensembles including the Mozart Piano Quartet and the Hegel String Quartet. She appears regularly as a guest in festivals and chamber music series in Europe and Australia.
After spending most of her professional life in Europe, Natalie returns home to Australia in 2026 to take on her new role as Concertmaster of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
