TRIPLE TREAT

Celebrating the genius of Ludwig van Beethoven**

Selby & Friends presents another glorious program of chamber music by Beethoven in our 25th August – 1st September tour to Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, the NSW Southern Highlands, and Turramurra.  Artistic Director and pianist Kathryn Selby welcomes special guest artists, the brilliant and virtuosic violinist Susie Park and acclaimed cellist Timo-Veikko Valve.

It has been some time since Selby & Friends presented an all-Beethoven program in its national season. These popular concerts are always an audience favourite as Beethoven is the undisputed king when it comes to exploring the depths of emotion and technical wizardry in chamber music.

Susie and Tipi toured with Selby & Friends in 2023 and had such a wonderful time they have returned for this special program of three ‘treats’ by Beethoven.

Featuring the early piano trio Opus 11 (originally with clarinet) followed by the piano trio Opus 70 No.2 (the sublime partner to the “Ghost”), and the final work on the program is the stunning and brilliant, rarely performed Reinecke transcription of the Triple Concerto for violin, cello and piano.

“I’m so looking forward to working with Susie and Tipi again in this incredible program of three gorgeous works by Beethoven. These all-Beethoven concerts are always a thrill as they allow us to investigate with the composer, his uncanny ability to reach to the very heart of the human condition and make us aware of how music manages to convey all its complexities.” Kathryn Selby AM
